Joint responsibility: 

Some of the processing is carried out by the controller in joint responsibility with other controllers. These are:

Processing  

When you visit our website and use its features or take advantage of our other services (e.g. attending an event), we process personal data. You are not obliged to provide us with personal data unless this is specifically stated. In this case, however, we will generally be unable to provide you with full access to our website and the services offered on it.

In the following sections, we explain what data we process, for what purposes, for how long and on what legal basis. You will also learn to whom we pass on your data. At the end of the privacy policy, you will also find information on the storage period, general recipients, your rights and automated decision-making.

Provision of the online service  

Purposes: You can generally use our website without providing any personal data, such as by registering. However, some technical data is collected during use, which may indicate that you are a natural person.

Categories of data: The data processed regularly includes the IP address and other technical data such as browser type/version, operating system used, referrer URL (the previously visited page), host name of the accessing computer (IP address), time of the server request, and the URL accessed.

Collection of access data and log files 

Purposes: We ourselves or our web host create so-called server log files for each access to the server. The server log files can be used for security purposes, e.g. to prevent server overload, and to ensure server utilisation and stability, as well as to track misuse of our website. 

Categories of data: Your IP address, as well as other technical data such as browser type/version, operating system used, referrer URL (the previously visited page), host name of the accessing computer (IP address), time of the server request, the URL accessed.

Legal basis: The legitimate interest in pursuing the aforementioned purposes (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR)

Storage duration: In the case of data collection for the provision of the website, our web host deletes the data when the user's session ends and they close their browser. In the case of data storage in log files, the log files are deleted after seven days at the latest. Storage beyond this period is possible in individual cases, for example in the event of an attack on our web host's IT systems.

Contact

Purpose: When contacting us (e.g. via contact form, email, post or telephone), the details of the enquirer are processed to the extent necessary to respond to the contact enquiry and any requested measures. 

Categories of data: Inventory data (e.g. names, addresses), contact details (e.g. email, telephone numbers), content data (e.g. entries in online forms).

Storage period: The data will generally be processed for as long as it is necessary to process the enquiry. After processing, the data will be stored for 1 year and then deleted.

Newsletter

         Purpose: You have the option of subscribing to our newsletter. In it, we regularly inform you about new publications, events and              developments within the association. The newsletter is sent by email.

We use the double opt-in procedure to order our newsletter, i.e. we will only send you our newsletter once you have confirmed that you are the owner of the specified means of communication by clicking on a link in a message. If you confirm the address, we will store your address or number, the time of registration and, if applicable, the IP address used for registration for verification purposes until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. 

In our newsletters, we use technologies that track the use of emails (e.g. open and click rates, click maps, etc.) and use this information to optimise and, where applicable, personalise our mailings. 

Categories of data: Consent data (name, email address, IP address) and usage data (messages opened, links clicked, length of stay, search terms, etc.). No personal profiles are created.

Revocation: You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, e.g. via the link in the footer of each email. 

Podcast playback

Purposes: We process personal data so that you can play the podcast episodes provided on our website.

Categories of data: In particular, IP address, device/browser information, access timestamp, URL of the episode accessed, referrer (i.e. the previously visited website)

Legal basis: Consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR or legitimate interest (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.

Storage period: For security reasons (e.g. to investigate misuse or fraud), log file information is stored for a maximum of 7 days and then deleted. For statistical purposes (access figures), data is stored in aggregated form for a longer period (without direct personal reference). Data that must be retained for evidentiary purposes is excluded from deletion until the respective incident has been finally clarified.

Event management 

Purposes: You can register for events via our website. In doing so, personal data required for registration and participation in the event will be processed. 

Categories of data: Inventory data (e.g. name), contact details (e-mail address), technical data (e.g. IP addresses) and, if applicable, data on individual support needs (e.g. barrier-free communication or sign language)

Establishment and maintenance of a community area and a network with civil society partners and institutions

Purpose: We want to work together to build an active community and network distancing and exit projects with each other and with other relevant actors. The network aims to permanently integrate civil society organisations into its structure, serve as a platform for exchange and innovation, and promote interdisciplinary cooperation in the long term. Personal data is processed for the purposes of establishing, maintaining and communicating within the network and administering the community area.

Categories of data: Inventory data (e.g. name), contact details (address, email address), institutional affiliation.

Legal basis: Contract fulfilment and pre-contractual enquiries (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), the legitimate interest in establishing and maintaining the community and the network (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, where applicable, the consent of the participating persons.

         Why do we store information on your device or access information stored there? 

For the purposes mentioned above, we also store information on your device and access information stored on your device. This is done with the help of cookies or similar technologies such as local storage, session storage or IndexedDB (hereinafter referred to collectively as cookies for the sake of simplicity).

Purposes: Web analysis is used to evaluate visitors to our online offering and may include behaviour, interests or demographic information about visitors, such as gender, in pseudonymous form. In addition to web analytics, we may also use testing procedures to test and optimise different versions of our online offering or its components, for example.

Stored cookies :

General information about recipients

When we process your data, it may be necessary to transfer or disclose your data to other recipients. In the sections on processing above, we name the specific recipients as far as we can. If recipients are located in a country outside the EU, we indicate this separately under the individual points listed above. Unless we expressly refer to an adequacy decision, no adequacy decision exists for the respective recipient country. In such cases, we will agree on appropriate safeguards in the form of standard contractual clauses to ensure an adequate level of data protection (unless other appropriate safeguards, such as binding corporate rules, are in place). General information on storage periods

We generally process your personal data for the storage periods described above. However, data is often processed for more than one purpose, meaning that even after the storage period has expired, we may continue to process your data for another purpose. In this case, the storage period specified for this purpose applies. Once the last storage period has expired, we will delete your data immediately.  

Automated decision-making and obligation to provide data

We do not use automated decision-making that has a legal effect on you or similarly significantly affects you.

What rights do you have with regard to the personal data you provide to us

Art. 15 GDPR – Right of access by the data subject: 

You have the right to obtain from us confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being processed, and, where that is the case, access to the personal data and further details about the data processing.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority at any time, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes applicable law.

If we process your personal data for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to the processing at any time. If you object to processing for direct marketing purposes, we will no longer process your personal data for these purposes.

Obligation to provide data

You are under no contractual or legal obligation to provide us with personal data. However, without the data you provide, we are unable to offer you our services.
